What are
Somatic Sessions?
Somatic sessions are based on the principles of somatic experiencing which is a scientifically supported healing methodology. Somatic (meaning body) experiencing, focuses on the mind-body connection through the autonomic nervous system. It recognizes that our body holds valuable information, experiences, and patterns that can influence our daily lives.
During somatic sessions we integrate the ‘body’s experience' in connection with our psychological, emotional, and spiritual self. The emphasis is placed on the client's lived experience, sensations, and bodily awareness. As a coach, I help clients attune to their physical sensations, emotions, and patterns allowing the release of various traumas from the body.
Through somatic techniques, such as breathwork, body awareness exercises, mindful movement, and grounding practices, somatic sessions support clients in developing greater self-awareness, releasing and processing stored tension or trauma, and cultivating resilience and well-being.
My goal is to help clients tap into their body's wisdom, access their innate healing capacity, and develop more integrated approaches to personal growth and emotional regulation. It can be particularly beneficial for those seeking to overcome trauma, manage stress, anxiety, enhance self-care, improve relationships, and overall well-being.
What Somatic Sessions are not…
Somatic Therapy:
While both approaches recognize the significance of the mind-body connection, somatic therapy is typically conducted by licensed therapists or mental health professionals.
A Quick-Fix Solution:
Personal growth and transformation take time and require commitment and active participation from the client.
A Substitute for Medical or Mental Health Treatment:
While somatic sessions can be a valuable complementary approach to support overall well-being, it is not a replacement for professional medical or mental health interventions.
